Sumbay Caves Tour
Located within the National Reserve of Salinas and Aguada Blanca at almost 2 hours from Arequipa city, Sumbay caves are home to more than 500 cave paintings. These depictions, possibly made by the first settlers in the area, are approximately 6,000 to 8,000 years old.

This tour laves at 8AM from Arequipa. We pick you up from your hotel in our private car and tour guide. We drive along the road to Puno by Yura road, we will drive upohill watching along the way cactus forest on the slopes of Chachani Mountain. After 1 hour we will arrive to Pampas Cañahuas (4250M), this area is located inside the National Reserve of Aguada Blanca. At this point we will observe plenty of elegant and rarely animals as know Vicuña (Vicugna), The Vicuñas are grazing along high plateaus located on the backside of Chachani volcanoe.
Arrive to Patahuasi town where we will watch Alpacas and Llamas on the slopes hills. Then we will continue to Sumbay painting caves located on the left side of the road, to get there we drive thirty minutes until an old road to Sumbay town.
Arrive and walk through a rocky canyon until to the cave where you will find the rupestrian rock arts; these represent animals such as Vicuñas, Llamas, Pumas, Ñandu, also we will find paintings of humans hunting and rare figures carved on the walls.
We make a picnic time next to the Sunbay River with spectacular views of Chachani, Misti, Pichu Pichu. At 1PM we return to Arequipa taking the same road.
Around 3:30PM arrive to the hotel in Arequipa.
