Misti is located at 5825 meters, the distance from the cathedral of Arequipa to the crater is only 17 kilometers.
Misti is a stratovolcano shaped by the successive accumulation of lava flows and piroclástica sequences.
This ascent is reserved for people in good physical condition and preferably with high mountain experience.
We advise you to be acclimatized to the altitude before starting this ascent, especially with the visit of the regions of Cusco, Lake Titicaca or Colca
Day 1: Arequipa - Base Camp
Pick up at 8AM from the hotel and departure to the Misti volcano. We will drive for one hour until, we will arrive to 3300 MASL.
Then we will hike for an average of two hours until reaching the base camp at 4400 MASL from where we will be able to watch a beautiful sunset. We will camp and rest. Dinner and overnight in a tent.
Day 2: Base Camp - Misti Summit - Arequipa
Breakfast at 3:00 AM and then we will begin the ascent for around 5 or 6 hours along a rocky path.
Arrive to the top of the Misti volcano at 5825 MASL from where we can appreciate a view of the snow-capped Chachani and Pichu Pichu, the Aguada Blanca national reserve, the Salinas Lagoon, the city of Arequipa, small towns and of course, the unique and beautiful crater of the Misti volcano.
After a rest at the top of the volcano, we will begin the return to the base camp along a sandy path for a period of one hour.
Once in the camp, we will collect our equipment and begin the descent towards the transport, which will lead us to the city of Arequipa to reach the same average of 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
