At 8:00 am, we will pick you up from Arequipa hotel, then we will leave to the National Reserve of Salinas and Aguada Blanca, along the road we will see alpacas and vicuñas at 4000m, in Pampa Cañahuas.
This area is located behind Misti volcano and represents a beautiful peruvian mountain landscape, where will watch Misti, Chachani, and Picchu Picchu volcanoes.
After two hours driving we will arrive to Sumbay, located at 4135 meters. Sumbay used to be an important train station between Arequipa and Puno, we will see the old trains and local people houses.
Near to the Sumbay village, we will walk for around 15 minutes until arrive to the first cave where we will find old rock paintings made a thousand years ago . We will watch hunting, and domestication of South American camelids scenes, you will also see figures of rheas (South American ostrich), pumas (mountain lion), and deers.
In Sumbay we will see medicinal plants used by inhabitants of the Andes, such as Ichu, Yareta, and Chachacoma, this last one is used for the altitude sickness
We will have a picnic time and then we will return to Arequipa at around 4PM.
